Equal Rights Lobbying (2020)

In early 2020, during the Equality Florida Lobby Days, the owner of Kent Writes Stuff teamed up with a group of dedicated advocates to challenge the initial attempt at a "Don't Say Gay" bill in Florida.

NAARPR LGBTQ+ Workshop (2019)

Our DEI consulting is driven by real advocacy experience. Founder Kent Marrero has fought for LGBTQ+ and racial justice, including as a panelist at the 2019 Refounding National Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression conference. They emphasized media accuracy in representing marginalized communities, particularly after the Pulse nightclub shooting. Conversations Program Series (2018)

At Kent Writes Stuff, DEI is at the heart of what we do. Kent Marrero's leadership in the healing collaboration between QLatinx, the Jacksonville Transgender Action Committee, and Project PHASES exemplifies this commitment. This initiative created safe spaces for queer, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals in Jacksonville, offering support through community advocates and mental health experts.

The Conversations series, a key part of this collaboration, empowered TGNC communities of color by addressing social and personal issues in guided discussions. This project highlights our dedication to fostering inclusive environments where marginalized communities can thrive. Our DEI efforts are not just theoretical—they are demonstrated through tangible, impactful actions that support and uplift the communities we serve.

In 2018, Transgender Day of Remembrance highlighted the urgent need for diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within our communities. The commemoration in Jacksonville, Florida, emphasized the personal and systemic challenges faced by the transgender and gender non-conforming community, particularly those of color. Their experiences with violence and misgendering by authorities showcased critical gaps in DEI practices. This day served as a reminder of the importance of fighting for justice, dignity, and respect for all, reinforcing the commitment to creating safer and more inclusive environments.
